I couldn’t have loved interviewing Louise Kennedy, a first-time novelist in her 50s, more. She told about how a friend dragged her to her first writing class when she was 47, plus how she had to “piss or get off the pot” if she was ever going to write a novel. The result was Trespasses, a stunning read about a Catholic woman living during The Troubles in Belfast.
Have a read of my piece and then buy her book.
